ASLA Showcase Gallery

At its core, landscape architecture is an artistic and creative process which produces site specific solutions to real world design issues. The technical aspect of the profession can mask the landscape architect’s creative nature, and often portrays to the public a one-dimensional idea of who landscape architects are. In an attempt to shed this misconception and highlight the artistic and creative endeavors of local landscape architects, ASLA San Diego curated a small gallery show during a local art walk. The intention of the event was to maximize interaction with the public, and for this reason we were ecstatic to have had the opportunity to partner with OBR Architecture to showcase local work. OBR’s unique office space in North Park doubles as gallery, and was the perfect venue for our show. The show opened on May 13th during the Ray at Night festival and ran for 1 month. The gallery displayed work from 17 local landscape architects, with a total of 25 pieces. The show successfully celebrated the creative side of our curious, critically thinking, idea-driven local landscape architects.
